U benzinskim motorima klipni prsten izla\u017ee ulje najvi\u0161oj temperaturi od 160 \u00b0C, dok u dizelskim motorima to mogu biti i temperature iznad 315 \u00b0C. Viskoznija motorna ulja stvaraju tanji premaz na dijelovima motora na ovako visokim temperaturama.<\/p>\n<p>Ne treba zaboraviti ni da motorna ulja djeluju kao premaz na dijelovima motora, sprje\u010davaju ulazak kisika na njih, a time se smanjuje korozija, odnosno hr\u0111a. U mnoga se motorna ulja dodaju inhibitori korozije, a mnoga imaju i deterd\u017eente i disperzante koji poma\u017eu da motor ostane \u010dist te da se na stvaraju naslage starog ulja.<\/p>\n<p>Zbog stalnog trenja u motoru stvaraju se mikroskopske \u010destice materijala koje mogu dospjeti u ulje. Kako bi ono uvijek bilo \u010disto, postoje uljni filteri. U njima ostaju sitni dijelovi koji bi mogli o\u0161tetiti motor pa je ovo veoma va\u017ean dio kojeg je potrebno redovito odr\u017eavati i mijenjati.<\/p>\n<p>Motorna ulja dijelimo na mineralna, sinteti\u010dka i polusinteti\u010dka.<\/p>\n<p>Mineralna motorna ulja su najjeftinija, a napravljena su kao produkt destilacije nafte, drveta, ugljena. Dana\u0161nja mineralna motorna ulja nemaju dovoljno dobra svojstva koja trebaju zadovoljiti podmazivanje novih i modernih motora automobila. Sinteti\u010dka ulja su umjetna motorna ulja, napravljena od sinteti\u010dkih baznih ulja i aditiva, te omogu\u0107uju visoku u\u010dinkovitost u odnosu na mineralna motorna ulja. Polusinteti\u010dka ulja su spojevi mineralnih i sinteti\u010dkih ulja, s time da udio mineralnih ulja iznosi oko 30 %. Ona nude bolju u\u010dinkovitost nego mineralna motorna ulja, a i jeftinija su od sinteti\u010dkih motornih ulja.<\/p>\n<p>Uz viskozitet, motorna ulja kategoriziraju se s obzirom na kvalitetu. To je kvalifikacija prema radnim karakteristikama, a poznajemo dvije vrste \u2013 API S.. i API C...
